Gulam Bodi, the former South African
international cricketer, was on Monday
(January 25) banned for 20 years after
he admitted to charges of contriving or
attempting to fix matches in South
Africa's domestic Twenty20
competition.
The ban, which will take immediate
effect, was announced by Cricket
South Africa (CSA) chief executive
Haroon Lorgat during the tea interval
on the fourth day of the fourth and
final Test between South Africa and
England at SuperSport Park.
"Our attitude to corruption will always
be one of zero tolerance," said Lorgat.
"There is no doubt that Mr Bodi's
actions have threatened the integrity
and image of the game that we love
and he must be handed a strong
punishment. He accepts the folly of his
actions."
Lorgat added that aspects of the
investigation were still ongoing. Read More: Gulam Bodi banned for 20 years for match-fixing bids - Cricbuzz
