The Guernsey Cricket Board is pleased to announce the players selected for the Senior Island Squad for the forthcoming ICC European Division 1 Championship being held in Guernsey and Jersey from 19th to 24th July.
The Squad is:
Stuart Le Prevost (Capt)
Stuart Bisson
Tim Duke
Jeremy Frith
David Hooper
Tom Kimber
Ross Kneller
Adam Martel
Kris Moherndl
Jamie Nussbaumer
Tim Ravenscroft
Gary Rich
Lee Savident
GH Smit
The Guernsey Squad are also due to take delivery of their new playing kit for this tournament produced in consultation with and, supplied by MKK Sports once again. This kit has been specifically designed with the trip to Malaysia in September for ICC WCL6 in mind. This is now the second year of the partnership with Cenkos and their magnificent support will continue to allow the Senior Squad to both prepare and look the part for ICC cricket globally.
On the selection of the Squad the National Coach Andy Cornford said, "The whole 20 man winter training squad have worked really hard throughout the winter and we've had to make some tough decisions on selection.
"However, I do believe the squad we have selected gives us balance, depth and various options which is vital in T20 cricket. The players have all been taking part in the recent GPL tournament in Guernsey which has provided great preparation for the ICC European Division 1 Championship T20 tournament," said Cornford.
Commenting on the upcoming tournament National Manager Pete Vidamour said, "Everyone connected with the Guernsey squad is looking forward to the challenge of our first international tournament of 2011. The potential rewards for success in this competition are substantial and all of our squad members are aware of its importance to Guernsey cricket and the Island in general.
"We believe that we have a talented group of players but they will need to perform to the best of their ability and achieve their potential in a pressurised environment. We have the advantage of our first few games being at home and hopefully the Guernsey public will turn out in force to support the guys," said Vidamour.
