Graeme Smith will help the South
Africa team ahead of the second Test
against England, Hashim Amla
confirmed on Friday (January 1). Smith
has joined the team as an adviser and
will continue till the end of the series.
Amla said Smith's experience will help
the South African youngsters.
"Graeme was a wonderful cricketer for
South Africa and a wonderful captain,"
he said. "Graeme knows more than
most how tough it is to play cricket and
how it is to go through tough times.
"Early in his career there were a few
crushing defeats and he is well aware
of how difficult it is and how important
it is for a team to reassess and get
back. He's got good knowhow about
Test cricket and we've got a lot of
youngsters who can draw on that."
Amla refused to accept that Smith's
comments about South Africa's batting
will have any affect on the players.
