This may sound like a repeating of what we
have been reporting for sometime but on
Thursday, a report by the Wall Street Journal
all but confirmed that Google is planning to
launch the successor to the Nexus 5
smartphone in October.
Over the last few months, multiple reports have
appeared on technology blogs related to the
specs and release date of the Nexus 6, which
has been dubbed the Shamu. The Shamu name
popped up because of benchmark results that
were leaked earlier in the year.
Numerous reports have suggested an October
15 date for the launch. Reports have also
suggested that the phone will be larger than its
predecessors at 5.9-inches. This means that
the phone will likely compete more with the
iPhone 6 Plus rather than the iPhone 6.
Hardware wise, the phone is expected to boast
class-leading hardware. Rumours have
suggested that it will have a sharp quad-HD
screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-
core processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 13-
megapixel camera with optical image
stabilisation. The phone for Google will be
important as the company will unveil Android L
in its entirety.
A recent render of the phone suggests that it
will be made by Motorola instead of LG and
will be basically a larger version of the recently
launched Moto X.
