As expected, Google has announced its take on the Amazon Echo. Google Home is a hands-free voice activated interactive speaker that can perform simple tasks for you. You can enjoy music and entertainment, ask Google for information and do a lot more. It is basically a Wi-Fi enabled speaker that makes use of Google’s voice recognition, Google Assistant and Google Now to make daily life easier.
It features a clean design, looks sleek and is portable. The bottom part of Google Home can be changed, which will be available in multiple colors and materials. It also comes with a built in microphone to understand your queries, whether you are nearby, in a kitchen or playing with your daughter. For music and entertainment, it can connect with Google Chromecast and Chromecast audio, both of which have been the hottest selling consumer devices.
Google Home can play your favorite music from the cloud. It also allows you to access, songs, podcast, playlist and genres. You can even send music from Android and iOS device via Google Cast. A simple voice search – Play Viva La Vida in Bedroom, will play the song on a speaker in your bedroom. You can even control videos and the content will appear on the TV connected with the Google Chromecast. That’s not all, Google Home also works as a voice activated remote control with smart home connectivity, allowing you to control the lights, thermostat, fans and also the Nest devices.
Developers can also integrate services allowing you to set alarms, order flowers, book a cab and more all with your voice. Ask for weather, facts on Wikipedia and other things. You can also give permission to let it retrieve your travel itinerary, daily tasks, and the traffic conditions on your route to work.
While Google didn’t announce any pricing info, it did mention that the Google Home will be launched later this year.
