Google on Tuesday launched flight search in India to help users look for flights, compare prices and book tickets. The move is likely to heat up competition in the online flight booking space which has players like MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, Yatra among others.
"Now, you can search directly for flights within Google or access google.co.in/flights to quickly find, compare and book flights from your mobile device, tablet or desktop," Google said on its official India blog.
Goibibo, another player in the online flight booking space, has partnered with the internet giant for the Google Flights feature.
When a user chooses a trip on Google flight search, an option of directly booking through the airline or through Goibibo comes up on the screen. Users can compare prices and book tickets by clicking on this link.
The Google feature will also help users to plan their travel in advance by predicting which season would offer the best rates for flying.
"When you click on the departure date field, you'll see a calendar with the lowest fares for the route highlighted for each day. You can also use the lowest fares graph below the calendar to see how prices may fluctuate based on the season, holidays or other events. Scrolling through a couple of months quickly shows you when it's a great time to fly," Google said.
