Google India has announced the finalists for the Doodle4Google 2016 competition. The company earlier announced the competition, giving a chance for students to draw doodles that can be featured as the official Google Doodle on 14 November. This is not a new practice and Google India has been doing this since last few years. This is the eigth edition of the annual competition where school children from all over India send their entries.
Google has started this initiative to support and nurture the creativity of school children by providing a large platform to students at an early age. Now the company has announced four finalists from three groups, opening the voting to choose the winner to public. Online voting will open today and will close on 10 November. According to the company, winners in each group will be announced after taking into account, the ranking by jury and votes received by the public.
The finalists went through two rounds of judging, first by school judges and then by national judges comprising of Art Director Savio Mascarenhas, Google’s Chief Doodler Ryan Germick, Cartoonist Ajit Ninan and Creative Rob. The details of the finalists are:
Group 1: class 1 to 3
1. Anushka Sarkar, Delhi Public School, Nerul (W), Navi Mumbai
2. Mansi Jain, The Emerald Heights International School, Indore
3. Banty Khurana, GBSS Govt School, Sangam Vihar, Delhi
4. B Shirisha, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Visakhapatnam
