Mukesh Ambani-owned telco Reliance Jio Infocomm is likely to get a major boost as the sector regulator Trai is considering to de-link call tariff from that of interconnect usage charge ( IUC ), according to ET Now report.

The telecom service provider from whose network the call originates, pays interconnect charge of 14 paise per minute to the telco where it terminates.

The report citing unnamed sources said that Trai may release a notification allowing service providers to charge lower than 14 paise in a way to allow lower tariff to boost consumers interprets at large.

The IUC has been one of the widely discussed issues in the telecom sector with telcos demanding clarification from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), saying it could not go lower than the existing rates.

Incumbent players such as Bharti Airtel , Vodafone India and Idea Cellular have already come up in open protest against the regulator.
The development if materialises would give direct benefit to the new incumbent Reliance Jio which is offering free voice calls for lifetime.

Why airtel always shouting on unlimited calling plans of Jio ?

Jio isn't the first operator to bring unlimited calls in India. Airtel voda all has unlimited plans. What Jio did is just bring down the cost of unlimited plans by 1/10.

If Jio is violating rules then airtel Vodafone also violating same rule.
