Google is adding new security features to Gmail for safe access of emails. The company is expanding the Safe Browsing service for Gmail users.
With Safe Browsing notification feature users will start seeing full page warnings if they click dangerous links even on web browsers and email apps. The alert will also route more information and ways to protect your computer.
Last month, on the occasion of Safer Internet Day, Google rolled out a new feature that will warn users when they try to send or receive emails over unsecured connections. Google said introducing the this feature, the amount of inbound mail sent over an encrypted connection increased by 25%.
Next up, Google says that the state-sponsored attack warnings are usually rare and mostly received by activists, journalists, and policy-makers taking bold stands around the world. In addition to a warning at the top of the page, Gmail will now show a full-page warning screen with instructions on how to deal with the hack.
Finally, Google has teamed up with variety of industry partners — including Comcast, Microsoft, and Yahoo!— to submit a draft IETF specification for “SMTP Strict Transport Security.” The company has taken this step in order to help ensure TLS encryption works as intended.
