Gionee is back in action and has just launched a new smartphone for the Indian market. The Chinese smartphone maker announced the new Gionee S6s smartphone at a launch event in New Delhi. The smartphone is priced at Rs 17,999 and goes on sale today at Amazon India and brick and mortar stores. The device The Gionee S6s is a selfie-focused handset, joining the likes of the Oppo F1s .
It features a metal build and is a successor to the S6 although it shares its design and looks with the company’s photography centric smartphone the E8. The smartphone also comes with a front-facing flash module to fill in light when taking selfies in low light.
The specifications of the S6s include a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with a 2.5D curved protective glass on top, a MediaTek MT 6753 octa-core chipset, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB). At the back there is a fingerprint scanner for added security and the company’s new logo which was introduced this year.
In the camera department there is a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera both of them having a dedicated flash unit. Rest of the features include 3,130 mAh battery 4G LTE and VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The company announced the S6 Pro as well as the Marathon M6 and M6 Plus earlier this year which are yet to reach the Indian market.
