Considering its alleged power-packed 7,000mAh battery, Gionee M2017 has been in conversations for a while now. While the company recently teased the smartphone with a poster of Chinese actress-director couple Xu Fan and Feng Xiaogang carrying the M2017, Gionee kept the date of launch under wraps. However, a new teaser, which is almost identical to the previous one, except for a few background editing, finally reveals the launch date of the smartphone. According to the poster, Gionee will be holding an event on December 26, to launch the M2017.
Although Gionee itself hasn’t revealed much about the smartphone, but a couple of leaks have hinted at a few expected specifications and features. The Gionee M2017 was recently spotted on the Chinese certification website TENAA, and little before that, some live images of the smartphone were also spotted by Gizmochina.
These leaks revealed that the Gionee M2017 will feature a leather rear panel, along with a textured gold frame at the top and bottom edges of the device. Joining the league of most of the premium smartphones in the industry, the Gionee M2017 will be featuring dual-camera setup as well. Also, the front of the device will be dominated by a dual-curved display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. There is also a physical home button at the bottom, embedded with a fingerprint scanner, and a selfie camera at the top.

The TENAA leak also revealed that the Gionee M2017 will come with a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood will be a 1.95GHz octa-core processor paired with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB onboard storage; there’s no word on a microSD card slot yet.
Among the highlights is the dual-rear camera setup at the back, which includes a pair of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors with support for 4X optical zoom. There is also an 8-megapixel front camera for selfie and video calling. Another highlight of the M2017 is its massive 7,000mAh battery, which the company claims will give up to 23 days battery life.
Additionally, the Gionee M2017 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, layered with Gionee’s custom Amigo OS 3.2. On the connectivity front it will include features like, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz+5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is expected to be available only in a single color, which will be black.
