Hyderabad: The GHMC proposes to map 9,099 km of roads across the city. This would help the GHMC in monitoring the road conditions, take up repair works and increase transparency and accountability, according to the GHMC officials
Sources said the civic body would form a special wing to monitor basic road data through the geographical information system (GIS) which would help the Corporation to find out the previous status of the stretch and number of repairs carried out on it
The Corporation officials would first mark the stretches indicating whether they belong to the civic body, NHAI or the Road and Buildings Department.
GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy told 'The Hans India' that it was noticed that the ground-level staff were hand-in-glove with the private contractors who have been carrying out several road repairs and re-carpeting works on the same stretch in less than two years
