Music streaming portal Gaana.com has enhanced its app interface by offering it in nine Indian languages.

The app will now be accessible in Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi and Bhojpuri.

Although Gaana allowed its users to filter music by their language preference, the app interface has so far been in English. With this update, new users will have access to select their preferred language, and existing users can change their language preferences in the settings.

The feature is now live on Android and will be launched for iPhone users soon. This upgrade makes the app more accessible to audiences outside Tier 1 cities.

Gaana COO Prashant Agarwal said, “Gaana’s mission has always been to bring the best music experience to all of India. Gaana reaches over 25 million consumers, but is now finally usable for hundreds of millions of Indians who can’t read English. This is one of multiple initiatives by us to provide value to all Indians across India and the world.”

Gaana is a division of Times Internet, which reaches over 175 million users every month through more than 30 digital businesses including news, entertainment, sports, local, e-commerce, classifieds, start-up investments, local partnerships and more.
