AHMEDABAD: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is yet to fulfil his promise of building a mobile application to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat initiative, but four Amdavadis have already launched an app to enable citizens to participate in the cleanliness mission.
Interestingly, officials will not be able to change the status of complaints. The app empowers the complainant to close his complaint once it is resolved.
Called UthoIndians, the app provides a crowd sourcing platform where citizens can share pictures of unclean spots in their areas and launch a campaign against errant officials, said Urvish Patel, one of the developers. Other team members include Amit Parmar, Ravi Panchal and Paras Shah.
The app also allows users to post photos of unclean spots and tag officials on Facebook. They can also mark it on a map, organize a cleanliness drive and invite friends and neighbours to join in.
"The app will allow you to post comments on the complaint. It will also enable you to join any complaint as a victim. The total number of victims will show how important the complaint is and how quickly it should be solved," said Patel.
