Flipkart , one of India’s biggest e-commerce giants, is vehemently pushing out new strategies to compete against arch-rivals Amazon India and Snapdeal. With the shopping spree going crazy in India due to the ongoing festive season, e-commerce sites are making the most of what their platforms offer. Amid all this, Flipkart has introduced a separate segment called ‘Everyday Essentials’ which has all the household essentials categorized for one’s convenience. This online pop up store will be available for two days, till November 2.

Flipkart already sells household essentials but this store is exclusive and has everything under categories which make it ‘essential’ to choose and shop from. The different categories that are under the store include hair care, skin care, body and bath, beauty and makeup, grooming essentials, perfumes and deodorants, baby care, food and nutrition, housekeeping and laundry, pooja essentials, stationery and pet essentials. Flipkart is also offering discounts on various products which go up to 50 percent. However, this is not something new and unique that Flipkart has introduced. This is only a temporary platform for a clean and clutter-free store categorized for the daily essentials that one might need during the festive season. Although the pages may seem new and fresh, the links are being redirected to the original products already available on Flipkart. Interestingly, Amazon India and Snapdeal have also introduced stores for essential items on their platforms.

Amazon’s is however not a special store but it’s something which takes place on the first and second of every month. The categories however are all a part of everyday household essentials. Amazon is not only offering discounts on these products but also has offers of Amazon gift cards for purchases worth certain amounts. As in the case of Snapdeal, it has also introduced a store named ‘Super Daily Needs Store’ which also has all the daily essentials like household items, beauty products, food products and more. What can be seen is how Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal are all battling it out with their discounts and offers, and also how they are all on the same level. It would only be a matter of comparing which e-commerce gives the best deal even if in the slightest amount, and it would also be based on one’s personal choice at the end.

The festive season is undoubtedly the best time for e-commerce platforms to gain their highest sales and profit. October was a month flooded with offers and discounts from every corner. The month began with Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal launching the Great Indian Festival, Big Billion Days and Unbox Diwali sales respectively. The results turned out to be astonishing with Flipkart claiming to have sold half a million products in less than an hour. Snapdeal, on the other hand, claimed to have received more than 180 orders per second at the time of the launch. Along with that, Amazon India also claims to have had a billion hits on its site within the 12 hours of the commencement of the sale.

Not only are e-commerce sites aggressively popular in cities, it is also causing a rave in the smaller towns. One naturally looks up for a product online before purchasing it on an offline store. Everything from a toothbrush to an LED TV is available online these days. Even though the doubts and suspicions about online shopping revolve around our heads, one cannot deny the convenience and ease that online shopping provides. If you’re too lazy to go up to a Big Bazaar or Home Shop 18, you can head over to these websites and get yourself an ‘essential’ product.
