Flipkart is running an exclusive brand day promotion from April 15 to April 21, where it is offering up to Rs 7,000 off on Samsung smartphones. There are some exciting deals to grab on the Galaxy Note 4 and the outdated Galaxy Core Prime, the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 among others. For those opting for the latest Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge , Flipkart is also offering up to 50 percent off on the Gear VR headset.

The entry level and slightly outdated Galaxy Core Prime which was released in November 2014 is now available for Rs 5,990, down from Rs 7,990, which is a good 25 percent discount.

The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS and features a 4.5-inch WVGA TFT display. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded further using a microSD card.
The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing unit and 2,000mAh battery with connectivity options such as dual-SIM 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Here, the price drop sounds good, but there are other alternatives such as the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Phicomm Energy 670 and Canvas Express 2 among others, which boast of slightly better specifications and features and are priced under Rs 7,000.

The more recent Samsung Galaxy On7 and Galaxy On5 are also on the offer, with a negligible discount of Rs 200. While the Galaxy On5 features a 5-inch HD display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2,600mAh battery, the On7 comes with a slightly larger 5.5-inch HD display, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and a 3,000mAh battery.

Both smartphones support dual-SIM card slots with 4G LTE connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy On5 is powered by a 1.3GHz Exynos 3475 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage, the On7 is powered by a Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. The On5 and On7 will set you back by Rs 7,990 and Rs 9,990 respectively.

Next on the list is the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Both smartphones are pretty outdated, but made available for dirt cheap. For Rs 11,990, the Galaxy S4 gives you a 5-inch full HD display, Android 4.4.2 (Jelly Bean), which is upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It offers a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing unit, Exynos 5410 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. Although it sounds pretty decent, one could look for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo K4 Note among others, which come with the latest hardware and operating system.

The Galaxy S5, on the other hand, is also available at an attractive cost of Rs 15,999. For this price, you get a good smartphone with 5-inch full HD (1080p) super AMOLED display, Samsung’s octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and features a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing unit. It also includes an IR Blaster that lets you control your TV and other audio-visual equipment, a heart rate monitor and is also IP67 certified for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy S5 may be a two-year-old smartphone, but the hardware and features could be perfect for those who can’t spend a bomb for a flagship device, but can still have it.

Flipkart is also offering a good deal on the Galaxy Note 4. With Rs 7,000 off, the price has been dropped down to Rs 29,990. For this price, you get an Android smartphone with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD display, premium metal frame and faux leather back, a 2.7GHz quad-core processor, 16-megapxiel rear camera and 3.7-megapixel front facing unit. The smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and an upgrade for Marshmallow 6.0 is already rolling out.

It also features a heart rate sensor, a fingerprint scanner and 3,220mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. It may not get any future software updates after Marshmallow, but for the price of Rs 29,990, the Galaxy Note 4 makes for an awesome deal. It also features the S-Pen stylus that quickly lets you take notes and doodle stuff. There are other smartphones such as the Moto X Style, Apple iPhone 5s (32GB), Nexus 5X (16GB) and LG G4, but if we purely look from the specifications and features point of view, the Galaxy Note 4 seems like a better deal.
