Flipkart was left with egg on its face when an enraged customer busted the myth of a "discount" being offered on sale after he managed to spot the label on the footwear which said the original price of the product was less than what was being stated.. As per the image he posted on Facebook, the seller inflated the price by 50 percent before offering a 50 percent discount.
Mani Sankar Sen was looking to purchase a pair of women's sandals when to his dismay he discovered while Flipkart had priced the pair at Rs 799 and was selling it at Rs 399 with a 50 percent discount, the strap of the sandal clearly had the original price of Rs 399 was printed on it.

An apolegetic Flipkart promised to rectify the mistake, thenewsminute.com said in a report.

Offers of hefty discounts often lure customers to online retailers and it has been a crucial component in all e-retailers strategy to boost sales.

But this isn't even the first time that Flipkart is facing the allegation. It's much criticised Big Billion Day sale also faced accusations of sellers having hiked up prices just before the sale in order to project that massive discounts were being offered.
