This trilogy was supposed to be a big 20th Century Fox's theatrical event over three months. Pandemic happened, Disney decided to end its relationship with Chernin, resulting this big splashy release on Netflix.

Needless, to say almost 90% of the times if a Netflix movie is good its definitely made by outside studios and Netflix bought the film by just shelling out the money on them. Hope, atleast in future with all the big money deals they made result in some good movies.
