There are many times when we want to share a particular quote or extract from a long article we may be sharing on Facebook. So far we just used to copy paste the text – often times there was no way to know if what was pasted in the status was from the user or by the author of that article. Facebook has eased up a bit on that front.

Facebook announced a new ‘Quote sharing’ feature at the F8 developer conference. This feature lets you share a particular quote or small extract from an article along with the link to the article in Facebook’s rich card format. You can even add your own thoughts on the quote or the article. Facebook neatly separates the quoted text and your own text.

So all you have to do is select a block of text, on sites or apps which have Quote sharing enabled. On highlighting the text, you will get a Share Quote Facebook button. Clicking this button will take you to your Update Status on Facebook with the quoted text showing along with the link to the article.

Amazon Kindle is the only launch partner so far for Quote Sharing, but expect more apps and websites to come onboard.
