We are typing more and more on our mobile phones these days. While we are getting keyboards that are better and better about letting us type more and faster, as well as predicting our next word or even words, many of us still want to stick to typing a few letters and having the keyboard automatically expand it to be the right word. That’s exactly what Texpand does. Allows you to write something like “hbu” and have it change to “how about you” with ease. Texpand is customizable, allowing you to create all sorts of shortcuts for you, and allows you to make shortcuts for “Today” and have it put it in the actual date instead of just Today.

Texpand works in just about every apps. There are very few exceptions right now, and it also works with all of your favorite keyboards. This includes SwiftKey, Google Keyboard, Fleksy and the many others available right now. Not only does it work with virtual keyboards, but also Bluetooth and physical keyboards, like the keyboard on the BlackBerry Priv. Texpand also provides a floating bubble which allows you to complete your text expansion or choose to undo it. Also in the floating window or bubble, there are suggestions, so you don’t have to remember your exact shortcuts, which not everyone will remember anyways.  There are also options per phrase, which allow you to decide whether you want to expand the text immediately, or within words.

This app comes in both a free and a pro version. The biggest difference between the two is that the free version allows you to define up to 10 phrases. The paid version – which will cost you $2.29 – will allow you to define as many as you want. Another difference between these two, is the fact that the paid version allows you to import words from the user dictionary. Texpand is available on the Google Play Store, it is free, without any in-app purchases. However as previously mentioned, there is a paid version which will cost you $2.29 if you want the added features of having more shortcuts defined as well as being able to import words from the user dictionary.
