Here is an exclusive review from me for the recently updated "ESPN Cricinfo App for Android"

I installed the App quite sometime back, but never used as it was not so good. It was a lot slower in loading the scores than other Apps and the UI was not pleasing either.

But recently this App got an update. Infact we have to say, that the App got an Makeover. The UI has been completely modified and the App now loads a lot faster. Really impressed with the new look.

Here is a detailed review of the App

First lets see what are the new features added in the latest version....
..

..

.

The settings screen. It gives option to select our favourite team and follow them. Allow notifications. Also we can sign in with our facebook or twitter account
.

The Home screen or the main screen of the App, gives the details of the latest scores and news. Clicking on the scores expands the deailed scorecard and the full news report.
.

This is the sidebar of the App, which can be activated by pressing the button at top left corner.
.

Clicking on the Scores, take us to the detailed scores page, which offers various options like full scoreboard, graphical view, commentary view etc.
..

.

We have a seperate section to view the photos and videos. Also there is option to listen to the audio via podcast
..

.

Then we have the news section. Read news and blogs in full screen just by clicking the headlines.
..

..

And there is special section which offer interesting facts about cricket like number crunching, snippets etc.
..

The points table section offers the current table for all ongoing series, we can change the series and check the corresponding points table. Also we have a section to check the current ICC Rankings for teams and players
..

The upcoming fixtures and the Cricket Records so far
..

Player profile page lists the players by team and clicking on any name provides the detailed profile of that player

Research indicates that India will become the third largest smartphone market by 2017; phone makers are launching affordable smartphones to tap buyers in rural towns and cities.

ESPNcricinfo has embraced mobile as a way to connect with fans since the early days of the medium’s development, leading to sustained leadership that has accelerated in recent years - with more than 800 percent growth in visits to ESPNcricinfo on mobile devices since 2010.

ESPNcricinfo has developed a completely new and improved mobile website, which is currently in a public beta test period. Launching fully on 19th November, the site utilizes HTML5 and interactive designs that create an enhanced user experience across smartphone platforms (ex: iOS, Android, Asha) as well as J2ME and entry-level java phones (ex: Nokia S40 devices). The content is visibly richer, with a blend of live updates and scores, as well as news, blogs, records, statistics and features.

The mobile website will deliver better performance for the user thanks to a faster, more dynamic platform, and will include new features such as the ability to easily share content on social networks as well as the ability for users to view and post comments.

Developed by ESPNcricinfo’s in-house product team in India, the site will give fans anywhere, anytime access to the breadth and depth of ESPNcricinfo’s industry-leading coverage of the sport.

“The aim was to provide improved performance, design and content experience that takes into account the changes in mobile and that is optimized across device screens and platforms.,” said Gaurav Thakur, Director, Mobile Products & Revenue,ESPN Digital Media, India. He further adds, “We want to be where our fans are, and in an on-the-go way that is engaging and makes use of newer technologies to provide the best for cricket fans.”
