Sri Lanka fast bowler Shaminda Eranga has been reported for a suspect action following the second Test against England in Chester-le-Street. The match's officials handed over a report to the Sri Lanka team, citing doubts about his action.

Eranga will now have to have his action tested at an ICC accredited centre within 14 days - Loughborough University in England will be his closest option - but is permitted to continue bowling till the results of that test are known.

The Chester-le-Street Test was umpired by Aleem Dar and S Ravi, with Andy Pycroft as match referee.

This is the first time Eranga's action is being called into question. If it is found to be illegal he will be barred from bowling in international cricket till he remodels his action.

That will be a big blow to an already depleted Sri Lankan attack on a what is shaping up to be a disastrous tour of England. They've already lost first-choice quicks in Dhammika Prasad and Dushmantha Chameera to injury, and are 2-0 down in the three-Test series after being thumped in the first two games. That said, Eranga has not been very effective in the series so far, picking up just the one wicket in 47 overs across three innings.
