Having cleared a number of tests at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough, James Anderson is tentatively set to join England's Test squad in India on Tuesday (November 8) - a day before the first Test in Rajkot.

Although the speedster has been ruled out of the series opener, it gives him adequate time to prepare and acclimatize for the games ahead.

"It's a credit to the hunger he has shown to get back," Alastair Cook told BBC Radio 5 live on Saturday (November 5). "There's nothing more he can do, apart from coming out here and getting acclimatised and get some more overs in."

Anderson, who has 463 wickets for England, last played a Test in mid-August and has since been on the shelf due to a stress fracture in his right shoulder. He is said to have been recovering well over the past couple of weeks and has made good strides towards regaining his rhythm.

His return will come as a massive boost for England, who lost the second Test to Bangladesh in the two-match series after winning the first. Especially given Anderson's critical role in England's famous 2-1 triumph in India back in 2012.

The much anticipated five-match series will commence from Wednesday (November 9) and is largely seen as a huge challenge for the visitors against the top-ranked Test side.
