London: England's middle-order batsman Eoin Morgan has withdrawn his name from the Indian Premier League players' auction to concentrate on winning his place back in the national Test side following Kevin Pietersen's sudden retirement from international cricket.

Morgan took to Twitter to announce his decision just 48 hours before the start of the IPL players' auction on February 12 in Bangalore.

"I would like to thank @IPL for accepting my request to withdraw from this year's auction. Good luck with the tournament," Morgan wrote on his twitter page.

Morgan has decided to focus on playing for Middlesex in the County Championship in order to fill the void left by Pietersen in the England team.

Morgan has not played Test cricket for two years and his last outing in all white was against Pakistan in Dubai in early 2012.

The left-hander and Ian Bell were the only two centrally contracted players in the IPL auction.

Morgan played for the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders in last year's edition, scoring 307 runs from 14 matches. However, he was not retained by the franchise for the seventh edition of the IPL.

Morgan has a base price of Rs 1.5 crore for the auction.

The 27-year-old has played 16 Tests for England, scoring 700 runs at an average of 30.43.

He wants to fix our place into the national side so he opted out from IPL he not criticizing ECB for IPL like KP did couple of years ago, Eoin can make millions from IPL but he choose England team.

He didnt choose eng team over ipl indeed he picked county team over ipl to regain his place for himself as eng will not be playing any matches during ipl...so u cannt say he did this for national duties as any other player could fill KPs place ...he has opted to play in county cricket so that he can show selectors that he deserve test place ....he is doing this for himself like any other cricket .....every cricketer has a dream to play cricket for his nation team than ipl so nothing special n morgan n sanga .... No team is playing international cricket during ipl so all play ipl but if there is a choice then 99% will want to play for their national team....u can see in last ipls england always hav a test series from 20 may as they hav this yr also with srilanka ..so all the players will immediately leave ipl n go back home .....

If he had so much love for eng team then why he took this decision after a day of KPs retirement he could have not given his name 2 months ago ...its simply bcoz he wants HIS place back in side... so he took this decision for HIMSELF not for the team as any body could take KPs place...

But I knows many cricketers who criticizes their boards on IPL but there is some cricketers who give up IPL for there national duties like Michael Clarke and all that but talking point is this England needs Eoin Morgan and he quit IPL for England.

U r geting my point but dont wanna agree then its ur problem but everyone knows he has done it for himself first overwise no need of taking this decision immediately after KPs retirement...

First of all no board considers ipl as cricket. So performance in ipl isn't taken into account when seleting national team.(even bcci doesn't consider)
So Morgan pulls out and concentrate on county sothat he will be cosidered for national team .:tup
