The Walt Disney Co. saw its streaming losses narrow in the second quarter amid an exodus of 12.5 million subscribers from its Disney + Hotstar streaming platform in India.

Disney notched a gain of 800,000 subscribers in other parts of the world. In the U.S. and Canada, Disney+ lost 300,000 subscribers while the streaming-only side of Hulu gained about that same number.

The main reason is IPL for sure . Also HBO content removal . Both of these losses had a huge impact on Disney+ subscriber count .

But current disney doesn’t care about it

They want to make profits instead of subscriber count

If we count as per ARPU 12milliom indian subs arpu equals to 1 million US subs ARPU

Most of the subscription were given through recharge offers/ flipkart coins etc. So after it ends, no one going to subscribe it with the price and the poor pq/ content is killing the viewing experience

Hotstar revenue is just above 500crores ( 60 Million USD) , and is expected to fall even more. only Jio or airtel can buy them

Disney+ should provide the pricing based on latest content they are offering. Like the right now price tag doesn't suits them.

They can earn ad revenue during ICC worldcup (Oct-Dec quarter), matches streams in Indian Prime time as well.

Nobody buy, without contents it's like dummy streaming platform like Mx Player, Disney want their IP library and acquired contents back if they sell streaming platform.
