A fast track court in New Delhi today awarded the death sentence to all four convicts in the December 16 Delhi gangrape case, stating that the heinous crime qualifies as 'rarest of the rare'.

The accused were given the maximum sentence on every charge against them.

Soon after news filtered out, minutes after the hearing began, that the judge had pronounced the death penalty for all four convicts, crowds of agitators gathered outside began to applaud.

The lawyer for one of the convicts emerged and confirmed that the death sentence had indeed been awarded to all four.

The victim's mother, who was inside the courtroom, told reporters, "Dil ko sukoon mil gaya." The victim's father later said the punishment matched the gravity of the crime.

A P Singh, one of the defence lawyers, had an emotional outburst outside the courtroom, alleging a political conspiracy. He said, "The court has buckled under political pressure by giving the death penalty for all the four accused. If after today there are rapes in India, then I will appeal appeal to the high court against this order.

Delhi gangrape-murder case: Court sentences all four convicts to death

All the four convicts - Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, Mukesh Singh and Pawan Gupta - in the December 16, 2012 gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student inside a private bus in Delhi have been sentenced to death by the Saket fast track trial court. Immediately after the sentence was announced all convicts broke down in the court while there were celebrations among anti-rape protesters outside the Saket court complex.

The death penalty has been awarded under Section 302 (murder) as the braveheart had died due to the injuries inflicted by the convicts. The judge Yogesh Khanna called it a rarest of rare case and said that looking at the gravity of the incident and inhuman torture, it is death penalty to all.

"In these times when crime against women is on the rise courts cannot turn a blind eye towards such barbaric and gruesome crime. There cannot be any tolerance. This crime in every way falls within the rarest of rare category warranting a death sentence," said the judge. :ohya:ohya:ohya:ohya:ohya:ohya

Atlast justice.
But that juvenile also should be hanged till death, although our present Law doesnt allow this.

He sent to correction home for 3yrs (already passed 9 months).
After that, he will be awarded elite job and z class security!

Also shocked by statement of accused's layer R.P. Singh. That fu** man will know how its to be when his own daughter will be brutally raped and murdered by inserting rod in her private part.

:Angry

That layer shed object further rape cases if judge does give punishment to next person doing same crime
