Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the first-of-its-kind policy "a revolutionary and very innovative" decision that would make power distribution companies directly accountable to the people.

Under this policy, power distribution utilities are required to fix any problem within 60 minutes.

Center is bringing law so states are bound to follow it. India is a electricity surplus country so there should not be any power cut in first place. It's just few states discom don't buy power from power producing company because of poor financial health because of power theft

Since Delhi is a UT and not a state and since Delhi also houses the central govt, it becomes the 1st place to get the new law in effect. Other states will follow it
