A few of the fishermen were rescued by the other fishermen. On News7Tamil and other popular tamil news channels, all of them are complaining that coast guard were nowhere to be found.

Hope in future TN Govt creates its own coast guard type setup to both rescue fishermen during cyclones and fire at will at the SL navy that keeps attacking TN fisherman well within TN maritime zone.

5 Navy ships deployed from Kochi. 2 ships on standby in Lakshadweep. 2 ICG ships each deployed from Kochi & Tuticorin. P8I aircraft, Navy Dornier and Coast Guard Dornier also airborne for search and rescue. Helicopter on standby with divers.

5 Fishing boats sink near Lakshadweep coast

Schools in Chennai, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Madurai, Theni, Thanjavur & Thiruvarur to remain closed today. Public Holiday in Kerala on account of Milad un-Nabi.
