BSNL Mysuru on Thursday launched its digital authentication process, under which, activation of new mobile connections will be done only with biometric data and Aadhaar number. The new step of paperless verification process will nullify the need to produce multiple documents while getting a connection.
BSNL Mysuru telecom district general manager KL Jairam said, “There will no longer be need to produce photocopies of identity proofs and photographs. The customer’s Aadhaar number and biometric impression will be taken, and if they match, all information will be collected from the Aadhar database. The whole process takes only a few seconds.”
Jairam added that BSNL is focusing on increasing its optical fibre network services to customers, which gives up to 100mbps Internet speed.
“In Mysuru, about 2,500 customers currently have optical fibre connections (OFC). In Mysuru and Chamarajnagar, around 354 gram panchayath have high-speed Internet connection with OFC, and another 44 are identified for new connections,” Jairam said.

Prime tourist destination Mysuru Palace will soon become a Wi-Fi zone. BSNL is preparing to install seven Wi-Fi hotspots in at the palace and surrounding areas. “It will be second Wi-Fi enabled destination after Mysuru Zoo,” BSNL Mysuru telecom district general manager KL Jairam said.
Awareness rally launched
Jairam on Thursday flagged off an awareness van in front of BSNL Central Telegraph Office (CTO) building near city bus stand. The rally, which will tour through Myusur and Charmarajanagar till December 14, would inform people about BSNL’s popular schemes.
