Coolpad has launched a new budget smartphone called Mega 2.5D. Priced at Rs 6,999, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D features a metal unibody design with 73 percent screen to body ratio and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It will be available to purchase exclusively via Amazon India starting August 24, and registrations to start at 5PM today. The smartphone will be offered in gold color variant.

Coolpad Mega specifications

The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch IPS HD (1280×720pixels) display with pixel density of 294ppi and a 2.5D curved glass on top. Running on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with a layer of Coolpad’s Cool UI 8.0 on top, the smartphone is powered by a MediaTek MT67355P 64-bit quad-core chipset clocked at 1GHz. It is paired with Mali T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM. With 16GB internal storage, the smartphone also features a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB is also present. It also includes support for USB OTG (on-the-go).

Besides the 8-megapixel selfie camera, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D also sports an 8-megapixel rear camera of f/2.0 aperture with LED flash. The selfie camera also features a smart beautification mode for selfies and field of view of 83.6 degrees for group selfies. On the connectivity front, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D features dual SIM 4G LTE with support for VoLTE voice calling, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. It is fuelled by a 2,500mAh battery, which Coolpad claims to offer talktime of up to 9 hours.

At its price point, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D will compete with the likes of Micromax Canvas Evok , Reliance Digital LYF Wind 3 and TCL 560 to name a few. All competitor smartphones feature a 5.5-inch HD display and are priced between Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,499.
