Australian Test and ODI captain Michael Clarke is confident that 'dumped' all-rounder Cameron White will break back into the ODI team soon.

Clarke's comments come after White was dropped from the 14-man squad for next month's ODI series against Sri Lanka.

"It is a tough call because he is a wonderful player and has been a big part of the one-day team for a while now," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Clarke, as saying.

"I am very confident he will continue to work hard in the nets and keep putting the runs on the board whether it be for Victoria or in Twenty20," he added.

White, however, retained the captaincy of the Twenty20 side for the two-game series that precedes a five-match ODI and a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka during the seven-week tour.

The 27-year-old has had a poor recent run of form, after averaging just 17.5 in seven innings in the recent World Cup on the Indian sub-continent.
