Chris Jordan signed by RCB as Starc's replacement

England fast bowler Chris Jordan will leave his county side Sussex immediately to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad to play in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-arm pacer is yet to play a county game this season as he is resting his elbow. However, he will now replace the injured Australian pacer Mitchell Starc in the RCB squad, reported ESPNCricinfo.

Jordan was one of the key bowlers for England in the recently concluded T20 WC and he delivered consistently for his side at the death, an area in which RCB are currently lacking in Starc's absence. He was not picked by any franchise during the auction in February and was one of the contenders to replace the injured Mark Wood in the England Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka next month.

The players from the Test squad have been asked to assemble in the United Kingdom by May 6 and it is now highly unlikely that Jordan will be back by then. It remains to be seen if he will be back in time for the Natwest T20 blast which starts on May 20. The Indian Premier League concludes only on May 29.
