Elton Chigumbura has resigned from
his post as Zimbabwe captain in three
formats of the game, Zimbabwe Cricket
announced on Friday (January 22).
The 29-year-old all-rounder stepped
aside from the leadership
responsibilities shortly after leading
his side to a series-leveling 18-run
victory in the fourth and final
Twenty20 International against
Bangladesh in Khulna.
Chigumbura thanked his cricket board
for the opportunity to lead the
national side for the second time,
adding that he enjoyed the challenges
that came with the responsibility.
I have enjoyed the challenges that
came with leading the team. Now I feel
its the best time to leave it to the next
guy to lead us so I can focus on my
game as a player, said Chigumbura,
adding, I am sure I will lead from the
front as a senior player as I still believe
I have more years of playing in me and
of winning games for the team. Read More: Chigumbura steps down as Zimbabwe captain - Cricbuzz
