Dinesh Chandimal will lead Sri Lanka
in the two-match Twenty20
International (T20I) series against New
Zealand after Lasith Malinga, the
regular T20I captain, was ruled out
with a knee injury on Tuesday
(December 29).
Sri Lanka are currently trailing the
five-match One-Day International
(ODI) series 0-2, both which Malinga
missed out on.
Chandimal has led Sri Lanka in 12
T20Is and has won eight of them, but
had to hand over the reins of the side
to Malinga when he was suspended
during the T20 WC 2014.
Suranga Lakmal has been named as
Malinga's replacement while
Danushka Gunathilaka will walk into
the squad in place of Kusal Perera.
Sri Lanka will play the first T20I in
Mount Maunganui on January 7 and
then will finish the tour with the last
game in Auckland on January 10. http://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/76851
