On-loan midfielder Sergio Canales reveals it did not take long for him to realise how great a club Valencia are.
Canales endured a relatively unhappy campaign with Real Madrid last season, after arriving with a reputation as one of Spain's hottest young prospects.
The 20-year-old, who joined Real from Racing Santander for €4.5million, initially struggled with injury, before finding it near impossible to establish himself in Los Blancos' star-studded line-up.
Canales' desire to play first-team football was ultimately granted when Real allowed him to join Valencia on a two-season loan, which could yet be made permanent for a fee of €12m should he sufficiently impress the club hierarchy.
And despite it only being weeks since he moved to the Mestalla, Canales already has seen enough to realise how great a club Valencia are.
"Only one day [at the club] is enough to realise Valencia's greatness," Canales said, according to AS.
Furthermore, the Spain U-21 international believed success was around the corner for Valencia, and that he was eager to play his part in bringing silverware to the Mestalla.
"This team are really keen to win things, I have arrived with great hopes and I am eager for the league to start because I am convinced we can do great things with the support of our fans."
Canales also revealed he came close to signing for Valencia in 2009, and was delighted when the opportunity came knocking again this summer.
"I had a season in which I had doubts and in the end, it [moving to Valencia] did not happen, but the only thing that matters is the present and the immediate future, and I am living those things here.
"When I spoke with my father in Colombia during the U-20 World Cup, he told me of Valencia's interest and I told him to arrange a deal as soon as possible because Valencia are a Champions League team and they are coming off a great season."
Canales came to the fore two seasons ago when he scored twice for Racing in a 4-0 away win over Espanyol in December, before repeating the feat in a 2-1 victory over Sevilla.
