State-run telco BSNL said it is offering several value added services to its Next Generation Network (NGN) customers across the country.
To promote these value added services, BSNL is not charging additional for prepaid services and discounted tariff are also made available for other VAS services.
In addition to voice & data, several value added services which were not available in
TDM technology are being offered to NGN customers. Value added services like “All India close user group” (wings CUG), fixed Mobile Conversion, (Wings follow me) Multimedia video conferencing, (wing conferencing) and prepaid telephone are made available across India to customers who are migrated on NGN technology.
The telecom operator said that it has plans to upgrade its more than 32000 TDM based telecom exchanges with IP Next Generation telecom exchanges. It said said that over 15 lakhs capacity has already been converted into Next Generation Network (NGN). The NGN-based Telephone Exchanges provide both voice as well as broadband facility to the consumers.
BSNL has last month launched mobile TV service 'Ditto TV' and limited fixed mobile telephony to take on competition from private telecom operators.
The limited fixed mobile telephony (FMT) is an app that virtually turns mobiles into cordless phone working in sync with landlines within home premises. The state-run telco had then claimed the FMT service was "different" from the contentious Fixed Mobile Telephony service, which it launched last year.
BSNL however forced to put on hold the contentious Fixed Mobile Telephony service following an opposition from private telecom operators.
