BSE partners with Twitter for hourly Sensex updates & more
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has partnered with Twitter to provide live updates of Sensex levels, stock prices and opening and closing figures of Sensex companies, reports the Economic Times. The BSE has been running a Twitter account since 2012, but it did not have a realtime feed before.
The tie-up will allow four new features, allowing people to follow markets through hourly tweets, auto direct messages for opening and closing figures of SSensex 30, autoresponder tweets for Sensex 30 stock prices, and a live photo that changes every 2 minutes to project the Sensex figure.
Users can subscribe to BSE’s Twitter handle by using #subscribe or #companyname to subscribe and #unsubscribe or #companyname to unsubscribe. Subscribers will see hourly tweets during trading hours of 9am to 3:30pm.
Users can also tweet to @BSEIndia with the company hashtag to get the company’s stock price through an auto response.
Modernization efforts at BSE: Last month, the BSE signed an MoU with IIT Kanpur for developing tools for strengthening cybersecurity and advising the the stock exchange on current and future cyber related issues. In January this year, the agency signed a partnership with Tata Docomo to offer free WiFi services around the area of PJ Tower (where the BSE is located).
Twitter tie-ups:
– Earlier this month, Twitter partnered with Rolling Stone India to urate live music gigs on the platform.
– In July, Fork Media tied up with Twitter to use the latter’s enterprise advertising tool Gnip and integrate Twitter’s audience data and content performance metrics with “Buzzerati”—Fork Media’s social media marketing platform.
– Back in 2014, Twitter partnered with the BCCI to launch a cricket-focused timeline for its Android app. In the same year, VAS provider IMImobile partnered with UK’s Post Office to launch a ‘Tweet to Donate’ solution that would allow Post Office to process donations via Twitter for BBC’s Children in Need charity campaign.
– The same year, Star Sports partnered with Twitter Amplify to find a larger audience for its content, with Vodafone India as a sponsor.
