Bragi Launches 'The Headphone' Wireless Earbuds at Half the Price of Dash...
German audio firm Bragi announced last week that it was planning to make a 'big announcement' this week. While the timing with iPhone 7 event had caused speculation it might be an Apple related announcement, Bragi has put that all the rumours to rest with the launched of new wireless earbuds, called The Headphone.
One of the success stories from crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, Bragi, created a lot of buzz with launch of its wireless earbuds Dash last year. Even though the product was itself very revolutionary, one of the major problems that users had with it was its price. The company has now come up with a solution to this very problem with its latest product.
The company's latest wireless earbuds Headphone will cost $149 (roughly Rs. 9,900), compared with the $300 (roughly Rs. 20,000) price tag of its predecessor Dash, when they are available for retail in November. In addition to this, you also get the option to pre-order the new earbuds for just $119 (roughly Rs. 7,900). People who contributed the Kickstarter campaign by the company will get an additional discount of $20 on the Headphone and can pre-order them for $99 (roughly Rs. 6,600).
However, the price cut has come along with some major changes to the wireless earbuds provided earlier by the company. Noticeable changes compared to Dash include removal of on-board storage, the capability of the earbuds case to recharge them when they are kept inside it, and the fitness tracking feature.
The Headphone will, however, allow you to make calls, allow voice to pass through with its Voice Transparency feature, and use the paired smartphone's voice assistant. The company also claimed that The Headphone is capable of maintaining a more steady Bluetooth connection compared to its predecessor.
Moreover, due to reduction of some of features compared with The Dash, the battery on new pair of wireless earbuads can reportedly last up to 6 hours, which is almost double the battery life on Dash despite having same 100mAh capacity.
Improved Bluetooth connection might come as a relief to a lot of consumers as Dash constantly faced connection issues and was criticised majorly because of it.
Bragi has also announced firmware update v2.1 for The Dash that aims to bring along improvements to the accuracy of heart rate tracking and Bluetooth connection on the device.
Comparing the two set of wireless earbuds, Bragi CEO Nikolaj Hviid told The Verge, "The Headphone is a racing bike, where the Dash is much more like a Formula 1 car." Further he said that customers shouldn't expect firmware updates like the one rolled out for Dash (v2.1) for the Headphone as "The Dash is a computer, the Headphone is a headphone."
