September seems to be the month of announcements. BlackBerry has expanded its lineup by finally announcing its latest flagship, the Z30. The newest instalment will be the fourth smartphone added to the BlackBerry 10 category. From the official specifications, it looks like the Z30 is the largest and most powerful BlackBerry so far and it also runs the very latest BlackBerry 10.2 OS.
Packed into the smartphone is a 5-inch Super AMOLED display as well as a new 1.7GHz processor with quad-core graphics. The Z30 also comes with a 2,880mAh battery, the largest seen in a BlackBerry so far, which the company claims will give up to 25 hours of performance.
BB 10.2 brings a revamped OS with the BlackBerry Hub, being the biggest beneficiary of these changes. The new features include a new Priority Hub that will learn the user's habits over time to showcase what it thinks are the most important messages gathered from emails, social networks and other synced accounts. BB10.2 also sports a revamped version of BlackBerry Messenger that comes with pop-up previews of new messages and details of received messages from the phone’s locked screen. You can have a look at what the phone packs here:
The new smartphone also boasts new stereo speakers and what the company has titled BlackBerry Natural Sound. The new feature is basically designed to improve voice and video calls made over BBM. The company claims that users will feel like they are in the same room with the person they are having a conversation with. Rounding up the package is a new antenna that promises to give faster data speeds.
The company has said that the Z30 will be out in the market from next week, and will start rolling out in the UK and Middle East. Other regions will also be getting the phone soon, but no specific date or list of regions have been given yet. There is no official word on how much the new smartphone will cost in India. The company has said that the new BlackBerry 10.2 update will be available for the Z10, Q10 and Q5 and will start rolling out in mid-October. With recent reports hinting at BlackBerry looking at a merger or an out-right sale in the near future, it is hoped that the new launch will help pave a better path for the struggling company.
