Bharti Airtel adds a maximum of 2.8 million subscribers in April: COAI

Market leader Bharti Airtel added 2.85 million subscribers, followed by No 2 telco Vodafone India which enrolled 0.75 million customers to its network in April, according to GSM lobby group Cellular Operators Association of India ( COAI). Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular , closely followed Vodafone India to add 0.68 million subscribers during the month.

Bharti Airtel continues to hold the top position, adding another 2.85 million subscribers during April to take its total subscriber base to 276.50 million,” COAI in a statement Monday said.

Vodafone had a total of 209.82 million subscribers with a close gap with Idea Cellular that has taken its subscriber base to 196.05 million in April. New player Reliance Jio , according to COAI, had 108.68 million subscribers at the end of March.

Bharti Airtel continues to own the maximum market share in the industry with 29.59% pie, the group added. India’s total mobile subscriber base reached to 934.58 million in April with UP East continued to be the largest telecom circle with 82.47 million subscribers.
