There was more drama in store in the
Pakistan camp about Mohammad
Amir's return to the national camp in
Lahore as the national ODI team
captain Azhar Ali put in his
resignation. Pakistan Cricket Board,
however, rejected the resignation and
Ali has agreed to continue as the
captain of the side.
Azhar Ali had tendered his resignation
over the inclusion of tainted paceman
Mohammed Aamir in the national
training camp. However, Ali agreed to
continue after PCB chairman
Shaharyar Khan's intervention. Fans
and experts alike are torn on whether
giving Aamir a chance to redeem
himself after he was found guilty in
the 2010 spot-fixing scandal.
Ali and Mohammed Hafeez had even
refused to join the national camp,
protesting Aamirs presence. The
Pakistan ODI captain met the chairman
and requested that he be relieved of
the duty to lead the Pakistan cricket
team.
