A BOUNCER IS NOT THE SAME: Mitch Johnson
was at his menacing best - bowling bouncers and
short deliveries at will - in The Ashes last year.
However, after the Phillip Hughes incident, all is
not the same with Johnson, the Australian team
and bouncer
When Virat Kohli, India's captain, was hit on his
helmet by the fiery fast bowler Mitchell Johnson
in the first Test at Adelaide Oval, nervous
Australian cricketers rushed to check Kohli's
well-being. The emotional toll of Phil Hughes'
tragic death was clearly evident on the faces of
Australian players.
In the 31st over of India's first innings, Kohli
walked in after the dismissal of Murali Vijay (53)
and was immediately welcomed by a short-
pitched delivery from Johnson. The right-handed
batsman ducked, but was hit on the badge of
his helmet, prompting him to take off his gear
for a moment.
