Asus Zenfone 3 series likely to launch on May 30

There have been many rumors about the Asus Zenfone 3 series in the past. Now the wait finally seems to be over as Asus has announced that it will be conducting the launch of its third generation of Zenfone series on May 30 at 12.30AM IST. The company has updated its official website with details about a upcoming ‘Zenvolution’ event followed by a countdown. The event is likely to be live-streamed on the website.

The ‘Zenvolution’ event is scheduled to take place just a day before the ‘Computex’ begins on May 31. The official website also has Intel branding on the countdown page hinting towards some Intel-powered products at the event. Some of the products anticipated to launch includes new ZenPad tablets, ZenBook laptops and even a new ZenWatch.

Recently Zenfone 3 smartphones have also been spotted on a benchmark website, revealing some key information about the phone. The benchmark shows two unannounced Asus smartphone with the model numbers Z010DD and Z012D which are likely to be a part of the Zenfone 3 series.

The Asus Z010DD comes with a 5.9-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset and 3GB of RAM. It also features 32GB internal storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera. On the other hand the Asus Z012D features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chipset clocked at 1.7GHz and 3GB of RAM. It also features 32GB internal storage. Both the smartphones runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

Apart from the benchmark listing the Zenfone 3 is also expected to feature a fingerprint scanner . Asus chairman Jonney Shih has also all but confirmed that theZenfone 3 will feature an USB Type-C port.
