In what is quite uncharacteristic of Apple, the company last night revealed the India pricing of the new iPhone SE and then revised it early this morning. The iPhone SE will now go on sale in India in early April, with the 16GB variant priced at Rs 39,000 — an increase of Rs 9,000 from the Rs 30,000 it had announced last night. Not surprisingly, the price revision has sent social media into a tizzy and many are disappointed with the price rise.

Apple iPhone SE price : The iPhone SE will go on sale in two variants — 16GB and 64GB, and the base variant will be priced at Rs 39,900. There is currently no word on the price of the 64GB variant yet. Both iPhone SE variants will go on sale in India sometime in early April. In comparison, the US prices for the 16GB and 64GB variants are $399 (Rs 26,500 approximately) and $499 (Rs 33,200 approximately) respectively.

The price change has made Apple the butt of jokes on social media with even Samsung India chiming in on Twitter.

Apple iPhone SE specifications, features : The iPhone SE flaunts a 4-inch Retina Display, and is powered by an A9 processor paired with M9 co-processor. With this combination under the hood, the iPhone SE supports always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature.

On the photography front, the iPhone SE is equipped with a 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for Live Photos and 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, there is a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera with Retina Flash. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, and on the software front, it runs on iOS 9.3.
