Apple launches upgraded iPod touch starting at Rs 18,900

Apple has launched an upgraded version of iPod touch and introduced new lineup of colours for all iPod models, including space grey, silver, gold, pink and blue. 

The new iPod touch starts at Rs 18,900 for the 16GB model, Rs 22,900 for 32GB and Rs 26,900 for 64GB model. 

The new iPod touch model is powered by Apple's 64-bit A8 chip that also powers the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus along with the M8 motion co=processor for fitness tracking. 

It also features an upgraded 8MP rear camera and an improved FaceTime HD camera. 

The iPod touch retains the 4-inch Retina display (1136x640p). It supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless technology. 

"iPod touch gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world's most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just RS 18,900" said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of iPhone, iPod and iOS Product Marketing. "With big advancements like the A8 chip and the 8 megapixel iSight camera, customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favourite music, TV shows and movies." 

iPod touch comes with iOS 8 and Apple's new Music service that offers access to a streaming music service, Beats 1 - Apple's live radio station, and Connect, where artists can communicate directly to fans. Apple Music is available on iPod touch through the Music app which comes with a 3-month trial, after which a Rs 120/month membership fee applies. There is also a family plan providing service for up to six family members available for Rs 190/month.
