Apple launched the next-generation iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in September this year with new color options like black and Jet Black. While the Jet Black color has been the most in demand up until now, a new color may soon join its stride. A new report suggests that Apple may be adding Jet White color option to its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
This report comes from the Japanese Apple blog Macotakara, and it shows the iPhone 7 sporting a supposed Jet White color, serving as a counterpart to its Jet Black iPhone 7. The Jet White color option could be for both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus as well. As of now, there is no official word from Apple’s end about the glossy white color for the iPhone 7. Although Macotakara has been quite accurate with information about Apple in the past, the blog does put a disclaimer saying that its source might have low credibility. So it would be better not to get our hopes up too soon. Nevertheless, if this news turns out to be true it would surely be a good surprise.
In the past, Apple has released new color options with new iPhone launches. Among those were the iPhone 5S being the first to sport a gold color. The iPhone 6S came with the first rose gold color, which Apple has set a trend with, from every smartphone having it as a color option. The short lived iPhone 5C came with a good number of color options in green, blue, yellow, pink and white. The latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus too are available in color options like silver, gold, rose gold, black and Jet Black.
So far, Apple has introduced the white color option only on its iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S lineup. Truth be told, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in white color looked better than the black variant. The front panel was in white but the back panel had the metal casing and only the top and bottom parts were in white. As for the iPhone 7, it would be completely wrapped in the Jet White color, if rumors are to be believed. With the iPhone 4, Apple had taken a year to introduce the white color variant. The delay was caused due to manufacturing problems as some outlets reported that the Home buttons did not match.
The iPhone 7 Jet Black variant is currently the most sought after, but considering its glossy finish, it does have a few drawbacks. The Jet White variant for the iPhone 7 could also end up having the same issues which primarily is how easily it can be scratched. iPhone 7 users also took to the internet to complain about how easily the iPhone 7 Jet Black variant gets damaged. Apple has also mentioned on its official website that the Jet Black variant is prone to scratches and its users must opt for a cover to maintain the glossy finish.
Not only does the Jet Black variant have the scratches issue, it has also infamously been dubbed as a ‘fingerprint magnet’. People have complained saying that holding the iPhone 7 Jet Black variant just once led to numerous fingerprints all over it. Although the Jet Black variant has proved to come with these problems, its demand is known to be the highest. If Apple were to add the Jet White color to its iPhone 7 lineup, a similar response may occur despite the issues that come along with it.
