I have raised a request to change my router AOT5221ZY to Nokia, ZTE or Huawei. They said they will send a technician to check however it is another headache to explain the issues, mostly the staff will refuse to change it.

anyone successfully got their airtel router replaced/changed and how?

Nokia, ZTE or Huawei
The above-mentioned ONTs are no longer provided by Airtel. And getting a refurbished one from a returned/canceled connection is another headache.

I heard that Airtel is working on bringing back the Nokia ONTs but right now there's no fresh stock available.

Zyxel AOT5221ZY is the only one that is provided for high-speed plans these days. Since you are already having it, you have option to go for Dasan H660GM-A ONT. However, I don't know whether it will suffice your requirements.

These days Airtel is only providing Zyxel and Dasan brand ONTs. I am also waiting for Nokia ONT availability. Preferably the Nokia wifi 6 ONT that Tata Play Fiber has been providing but I don't expect Airtel to offer this ONT.

@Bapun asking for a good router is a basic request. i can setup my own xpon router but this router has no voip sip password, proxy details are missing so i have to either change it or get the voip details manually.

Yes, it is a basic request but Indian ISPs prefers not to easily replace their ONT unless it completely stops working.

Speaking about my JioFiber connection, I have been using the same ONT for since 4+ years and now it has multiple issues. For example, it can not get VOIP configuration from ACS after ONT is reset. I can not manually configure it either because the ONT is totally locked. I can not get it replaced either because there's no visible issue as per the Jio engineer.

Similarly, when I used to have Railwire Broadband, the LCO provided a cheap ONT whose VLAN ID used to auto reset on ONT reboot but he never fixed that which he initially promised to do via firmware update neither replaced the ONT till I disconnected the connection.

So almost every Indian ISP is a nightmare when it comes to ONT replacement. 🤷‍♂️
