For the last few days, I've been hearing from multiple sources saying that the OEMs have been informally informed that the Android One Program might be killed.
The latest proof of this is that HMD Global is also looking to hire more UX engineers. Now whether this is for designing few in-house apps or whether it is for an entire Android OS, that even I'm not sure. But couple this hiring + above source news, Android One might bite the dust too.
It looks very very likely as Xiaomi and Motorola left the scene last year, with Xiaomi completely killing of their A series and Moto continuing with their Stock Android skin + little customizations... HMD was the only Android One OEM left and it doesn't make sense for Google to keep it up..

HMD Global is hiring a UX designer for its Nokia Android phones
According to a job posting on Linkedin, HMD Global could be looking to develop its own UI on top of stock Android, for Nokia phones.
