Continuing a tradition of naming Android software after sweet treats, Google has revealed that its newest mobile OS will be called Android Nougat. The name for the next OS was announced seven weeks after Google sought suggestions during its annual conference for software engineers.

Successive developer previews of Android Nougat have been available to download since March, with a final release expected later this year.

While Google will reveal full details about Android Nougat during its public release later this year, it has already given a sneak peek into it. We bring you everything that is new in the next Android OS.

1. Android Nougat will let users run apps without actually installing them on a device. This feature will be compatible with devices running Jelly Bean and above.

2. Adopting a new security approach, Android Nougat will let you encrypt specific files rather than the whole phone.

3. It will offer a split-screen feature so users can toggle between apps more easily.

4. Android Nougat will enable users to reply directly from notifications, something already available on Android Wear - Google's software for wearable devices.

5. Launcher shortcuts will let users create custom shortcuts to specific features in certain applications. This could, for example, be a shortcut to message a particular contact or to access a specific folder in an email inbox.

6. Google promises improved battery saving and better graphic performance in Android Nougat. There will be options for limiting data use by reducing the quality of images and video streams, which could prove handy for users with limited data packages.

7. Android Nougat will have support for Emoji Unicode 9, bringing users new emoji with more human-like faces and a variety of skin-tones.

8. Google's virtual reality platform called Daydream is included in Android Nougat. It is meant to improve upon the experience of Cardboard, which Google launched two years ago.

how many version they wll launch..... :-P
If they would stop giving new variants Android would become Symbian and Play Store would become Ovi Store which made Nokia go out of competition

Same will happen with Android if they stop updating :hehe

Old android updates like gb to ics or ics to jb used to bring major changes but these days they are updating just for the sake of "updates".

Yeah @Bapun Raz bro and @KV bro you are right. But many users still thinking to upgrade to marshmallow and they launched a new version. This is so early.

Android N is only released for Preview and is even not officially available for Nexus devices, they have provided beta update to Nexus Users so that can experience N by flashing their device but this is not the actual release

Actual release again would be near Sept/October,so it would be coming to most devices running on Marshmallow in this year end or next year, and whenever they would release it after one or two months they'll announce Android O and start working on it,it's a continuous never ending process  :k
