Amazon India has announced the launch of ‘Amazon Pantry’ for its customers in Hyderabad. With Amazon Pantry, customers will be able to shop for over 4000 everyday essentials like household products and groceries by filling a virtual box of items in the Amazon Pantry store. All these items will be delivered at the customers doorstep with next day delivery.
Amazon Pantry offers essentials that include beverages, food, health products, beauty products and household supplies. It also offers a selection of products chosen by a customer that can form part of the monthly purchase basket like rice, atta, dals, etc.
The pantry box allows customers to buy a full shopping basket of up to 15Kg of products. As a customer fills his pantry box, a percentage meter is shown which indicates how much of the box is filled based on the size and weight of products that have been put in the box already. If a pantry box reaches its maximum capacity, a second box automatically starts getting filled with the new items.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Saurabh Srivastava, Category Leader FMCG, Amazon India said, “We are very excited to launch Amazon Pantry for customers in Hyderabad. Amazon Pantry makes it convenient for customers to shop for grocery and household products as it saves time spent in travel, parking, queuing and lugging heavy bags from a store to the car and from there to a customer’s home. We are confident that as customers in Hyderabad get familiar with the Pantry experience, they will be delighted by the ease, convenience and the fast delivery benefits that it offers.
Amazon Pantry comes with guaranteed next day delivery. Delivery charges are Rs 49 per box but as a launch offer, Amazon.in is running a promotion of a delivery charge of only Rs 20 per box and free delivery for Prime customers. The service is only available to users in Hyderabad at the moment, with no details on the launch of the service anywhere else. Launch offers for the service include 10 per cent off on items worth Rs 1,000 purchased, and 15 per cent off on items purchased worth Rs 2,000.
Amazon says that the Pantry makes it convenient for consumers to stock-up a basket of frequently purchased items, while they also save time and money from going to supermarkets to buy these items every month.
